Missouri class five Boys Basketball Ratings - Final 3/18/2020
I hope all of you out there are surviving and staying healthy. My wife and I are hunkered down and staying isolated, like so many other seniors. I have been working on a season highlight for the grandson's team and polishing the ratings for all classes. I will start today with Class 5 boys and work my way through all the boys and girls classes by the end of next week.
Although I am sure it was a big disappointment to all of the class four and five teams that had their championship games cancelled this week, when all is said and done, hopefully the drastic measures being taken to limit the spread of this horrible virus will have a positive impact on the number who get sick and, even worse, die.
I have "scrubbed and sanitized" (sic) the Class five boys ratings and poured over the head to head competitions to make sure the ratings align with the game results. Many of you will be arguing for years henceforth about who was the best team in class five, Staley, Kickapoo, CBC or Chaminade. Those would have been great games and we will only be able to play them in our minds. I felt, then, and even now that it would be an All-St. Louis final with CBC and Chaminade and my ratings reflect that kind of rematch from these two great schools. I firmly believe, though, that both Staley and Kickapoo would have given these teams a great semi-final contest.
I am posting a photo of my top 30 with their records, significant wins and losses and final rating. CBC tops my list with Chaminade just a hair behind. I also looked at the entire season performance of each team. There will be naysayers that claim their school beat someone twice and therefore they should be rated higher but, based upon the entire season, I will have rated the team that performed better all season at a higher rating.
Feel free to retweet this but, if you have nothing good to say, keep it to yourself. Kindness is the word of the Day. These top thirty are all great teams, even the three 13-13 teams that played tough conference schedules.
Here's the top thirty and then I have listed the 74 class five teams below:
