St. Louis Area boys high school Basketball Ratings 2/2/2020 corrected 9:30pm

I took a shot at predicting some very hotly contested games this past weekend and came up with a paltry 54% accuracy (see below the ratings table).  Of course, when you have very tightly rated teams, there is going to be some 50-50 type games, when flipping a coin might be as accurate as  looking at the ratings and my 54% accuracy is only slightly better than coin-flipping.

There were some exciting games with "upsets" last weekend, including Chicago Curie over Vashon, O'Fallon over Collinsville, and Edwardsville over Belleville West.

On the other hand, CBC secured the top spot in the large schools with an emphatic win over Chaminade and a convincing win over Grandview KC.  Trinity also had an impressive two point win against East St. Louis. De Smet also had a close win over Hazelwood Central.  Vashon, despite the loss to Curie is still the #1 team in the area, large or small school.

So, with a casual sort of Large and Small St. Louis schools (I am not always sure how the Post Dispatch calls one class 4 team large and the next class 4 team a small size school), here are my ratings for St. Louis area teams (let me know if I left someone off the list):

Here were my picks last week on some tough games.   As a big Eureka supporter, I was actually glad I was wrong on the Eureka and Ladue game prediction.  If I predict spreads on two teams that are within three rating points, next time I will take the home team or flip a coin.  LOL
