Predicting class one, two and three sectional games

I have to be careful.  I don't want to upset the MAN.  The insight that you get at Prep Hoops Missouri from Earl Austin, Jr. and staff is unbelievable and he/they know the players that are out there.  If you don't have a subscription for Prep Hoops, you should go out and sign up.

But I do have to say that I get this round.  LOL.  I posted the other day with some predictions for class one, two and three boys AND girls and I compared them to articles that Prep Hoops was posting on the boys games.  I missed on the BIG GAME with Earl picking Dora and me picking South Iron and, of course, I heard about it from Dora in a good natured sort of way afterwards.  That's okay.  I can live with a few wrong.  I said that the Dora-SI game was a coin flip and Dora won out in a game I still think was the "state championship" for class one.

How did "we" do for the rest of the predictions?  Well, Prep Hoops hasn't started following the girls yet, or at least, I haven't seen it.  Maybe I need to subscribe...LOL.  But I went out on a limb and predicted the girls too, even though I just started rating them in January for the first time.  And no one out there is rating all of the boys and all of the girls teams in the state of Missouri.  But enough of that.  How did we do for the rest of the predictions?

Earl, by my count, picked 66% of the section winners.  I think that is great but maybe he doesn't look over my ratings enough.....LOL.

I picked 79% of boys and girls section winners.  Only 18 of 24 girls games for 75% but 20 of 24 boys games for a whopping 83%.  I have got this down pretty good for an old fart.

Basketball and Coronavirus - What's next? What can you do?

It's hard getting up in the morning.  Some days I don't remember what day of the week it is.  My grandkids are struggling.  They are stressed.  They can't do the things that they want to do.   I finally bought myself a golf driving net and set it up against the house in the backyard and I hit a couple hundred golf balls a day and work on form.  My wife and I are walking the neighborhood, sorting old digital photos, fixing stuff and knocking out Honey-Do Lists that I have avoided for years. I told my grandson, who was looking forward to the AAU 17U season that he might be lucky to play in July and August.  Very Lucky.  Schools are closed for the rest of the spring.  I feel real badly for all of those spring sports teams.  I feel bad about the Spring AAU schedule disappearing.  I doubt that there will be a June HS practice and game schedule.  I doubt everything our "President" says about opening up the country.  IF WE KEEP...

Missouri Boys High School Basketball Rankings by Class 1/3/2020

I am not entirely through the holiday tournament results but I kept up enough with the top teams to post another Missouri boys basketball rankings by class for the top 40-60 teams. In class 1, some people would think I am crazy (Paul Simon song?) to put Dora second behind South Iron but the comparative scores tell me that Wakefield and company at South Iron can beat Haney, the Lunas and Dora.  It's too bad this won't be the championship game for class 1. In class 2, Animu Mohammed made me a believer in Greenwood (what took you so long, Gramps?) when he scored 49 points (all of Greenwood's 2nd half points) in a 10 point win over Kickapoo.  Hartville is good but I don't think anyone will figure out how to stop Mohammed. In class 3, Trinity had a great MICDS tournament but I still rate Charleston a 5 point favorite over Trinity.  Cardinal Ritter and Father Tolton are still in the mix with Christian O'Fallon not too far behind.
