Ratings and feedback
I had a lot of activity on the blog yesterday and I appreciate those of you who have responded or retweeted my blog posts on Twitter. I have had both athletes and coaches retweet the rankings.
I had a couple of responders who questioned my rankings for their schools and I like the input. One reader had a problem with Ruskin's ranking in class 4. I went back and checked their record and scores and found an error in my sorting function that was picking up the wrong team rating. I corrected that and Ruskin moved up from 26th to 8th in class 4. I wouldn't have found that error in my spreadsheet without that input.
Another reader questioned Hazelwood Central's rating compared with Hazelwood West. Central has a 6-4 record with some good wins. West is only 3-5 but has some really good losses. When I say "good losses" I mean that they lost to great teams by small margins. West lost to Chaminade by 13 and Trinity Louisville by 5. Both teams are highly rated teams. I expect that West will take off in January and get on the sunny side of a winning record. Both Hazelwood Central and West will be factors in the play-offs but I still have West higher rated than Central due to score comparisons. The record might not be there yet, but West will be a great team down the stretch.
I hope that helps explain things a little.
Keep the feedback coming. I make mistakes with 600 plus teams and I miss some key games. If you see something out of whack, I will check it out. Sometimes the ratings will stand pat.
That's why Mark Twain coined it "Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics".
